Learning

  • 2023
w/ Tom Pearson & Third Rail Projects

“Spring is here, and with it, our own opportunities to bring new ideas into the light. This series is a deep-dive into creative practice and art-making with an emphasis on generating original material that puts our audiences/participants at the center of the work we create. We will explore methods that support immersive ideation as well as other participant-centered endeavors. For four weeks, we will concentrate on different aspects of the creative process and how to build and sustain a practice that not only nurtures and causes us to thrive in our generative work but also helps us plan for creativity, hold space for it, and center it in our daily lives. A performance or art background is not required, and these gatherings are open to anyone who wishes to work, play, and learn more about creative techniques and design. Since there is a light cumulative aspect to the series, participants are encouraged to join for all four; however, a single workshop rate is available.”

Performing Against the Climate Catastrophe, 2023

    https://www.cambridge.org

Climate change is a crisis not only of not knowing what to do, but of not even knowing how to comprehend the condition itself. It is a crisis, in other words, that calls for urgent action and urgent reflection, both in previously unconsidered ways. How to perform the not-yet-performed? How to think the not-yet-thought? This webinar explores climate change and performance by bringing together an international collection of artists, activists, and academics. Together, we will wrestle with the question of what our collective, but by no means evenly distributed, climate catastrophewill mean for art and politics in the coming years.

Utilizing eco-friendly resources such as reuse, second-hand materials, and recyclable raw goods is important to my work; ensuring emotional impact while minimizing environmental impact. I’ve worked on projects large and small, from small passion projects with peers to music videos for Grammy-Award winning artists. I am detail oriented, quick to learn, curious and flexible. From customizing thrifted ready-to-wear clothing through color manipulation and tailoring to de- or re-construction of garments to tell the passing of time to creating one-of-a-kind wearable sculpture from trash. I am happy to creatively solve whatever problem is at hand.

Research based on binary gender data tells us that women only apply for jobs when they think they meet 100% of the criteria, whilst men apply when they meet 60%. As a result, women apply to 20% fewer jobs than men.”
