ART DIRECTOR // SCENIC DESIGNER

COLD COLD COLD

ART DIRECTION
I worked closely with Lead Singer and Director Matt Shultz from the Grammy Award Winning Cage the Elephant on delivering a dynamic aesthetic design for the internationally released music video COLD COLD COLD. I assembled, sourced, constructed, and delivered specifically requested set pieces and lead the team of three department heads during production to execute concept on set, creating a vintage, monochromatic cult-like vibe that paired perfectly with the grungy rock vibes they were looking for.

HAUNTED: REVELRY

SCENIC DESIGN // ART DIRECTION // PERFORMER
Revelry was an immersive theatre experience conceptualized by Daisy Dukes Films as part of the limited run of Haunted performed at Track One in Nashville, TN in October of 2017. Revelry engaged audiences through two short projected film loops in conjunction with a narrative performance within a full-scale kitchen, living room, entryway, and front door. This piece was happening in tandem to the larger scale concept of the overall piece. The space allotted was the irregularly shaped corner of a stone dug room. All components of the installation were to be temporary and easily removed without a trace.

TO CATCH A FALLING KNIFE

CREATURE DESIGN
I was brought on board to create two ominous, “bird-like” creatures for William Price III’s film about a family that has wrestled with death, a boy with vision beyond his years, and the choices that they make in the midst of a massive solar event that threatens the entire earth.

YOUR TV IS WATCHING

CONCEPT // SCENIC DESIGN // ART DIRECTION
In June of 2016, the first presentation of YOUR TV IS WATCHING appeared at Tony Youngblood's (Theatre Intangible) 2nd installment of the Modular Art Pods (MAPs) at OZ Arts in Nashville, TN. The MAPs are an open-source collaborative art tunnel created by Tony Youngblood with contributions by Sarah McDonald, Liz Clayton-Scofield, Erica Ciccarone, Adrienne Outlaw, Janet Yanez, Megan Kelly, Joe Clemons, Veronica Kavass, and Kyle Baker. The first MAPs took place at abrasiveMedia in Nashville, Tennessee during the February 2015 Arts & Music @ Wedgewood/Houston event.

YOUR TV IS WATCHING is an interactive installation where the audience is the performer and the performer is the audience. A literal interpretation of the aggregation of our data by technology to instigate continued conversations about the consequences of that exchange in an interactive environment. The installation itself is a 6ft x 10ft vintage inspired television with a live audience of 10-15 performers reacting to the viewing audience as they would were they watching a film. With a mid-century movie soundtrack, commercials, and announcements, the carefully curated aesthetic brings the audience back to the early days of TV with a sense of wonder and surprise while creating a conversation about how our technology can see and hear our every move.

STRANGE CREATURES

SCENIC DESIGN / ART DIRECTION
STRANGE CREATURES is a music video for Nashville-based musician SaraBeth GO! The performer and producer wanted something simple, fun, and homemade feeling that strongly paralleled the lyrics and music. I translated the collection of concepts into a lookbook and illustrations. The finished installation was comprised of 12 unique “Strange Creature” heads, customized wardrobe, sets, and accessories.

EVERGREEN

SET DESIGN // ART DIRECTION // WARDROBE
For the EVERGREEN Album Art for Audrey Assad, I translated conceptual essence into a five piece wardrobe and two comprehensive set designs; designing and executing original sewing patterns, alterations, and finishing entirely bespoke articles. The two sets were portable and positionable, including a living greenery wall and large-scale velvet environment.

MANUSCRIPT

CONCEPT // PRODUCTION DESIGN // DIRECTOR
I produced and directed a site-specific installation of MANUSCRIPT by Paul Grellong after sparking an unexpected collaboration between a fine art gallery in Nashville, TN. Through this unlikely collaboration between a full-length play, a fine art gallery, and an installation artist, came a unique theatrical experience that dramatically exceeded initial attendance expectations. Authored and executed all aspects of concept design, production practicals, marketing, socials, and final performance presentation. Initiated a performance structure that resulted in standing-room-only performances in conjunction with existing community building events. Collaborated with international celebrity photographer Sebastian Smith on publicity images.
